SARONG and KEBAYA: The Straits

Discover the history behind the sarong kebaya which connects Peranakan culture with the ancient trading communities of the Indian Ocean and of Maritime Southeast Asia since the 16th century. In this exhibition, students will trace the history and development of this costume and set it in its various historical and stylistic contexts.
